I don’t know whether to cry or swear... whether I’m sad or outraged.

Every Eco Mum needs only 3 things in her Essentials Cupboard:
  • Lavender oil
  • Tea tree oil
  • Eucalyptus oil
Oh, and a few cloves of garlic don’t go astray either!

Yup, you guessed it - I got mastitis... again.

Thanks to not having enough sleep, too many visitors & too many trips (weddings, birthdays etc) I got rundown & it came on again whilst away visiting my family on the north coast this week.

So, rather than take a dive for 3 - 5 days on penicillin & have to toss all my milk away I thought “Right - I am going to hit this thing hard & fast with everything I found for infections...without drugs!”

I am ALL for the slip slop slap etc regimen and intend on following it to the letter each time Smudge & I are outside. Fair Celtic skin + sunburn = not a good combination.

After my research into the chemical substance formaldehyde found in just about every cleaning agent, soap, shampoo, toothpaste & clothing item in our homes, I kept digging around.

It never ceases to amaze me what kind of substances & chemicals are ALLOWED to be included in foodstuffs, clothing for kids & infants, medicines, formulas, cleaning products & supposed “natural” products...

Take formaldehyde for example. Its a naturally occuring chemical substance (carbon, hydrogen & oxygen) however it is also a KNOWN carcinogenic... which means it is known to cause cancer.

A quick one for today - got tonnes to do before taking off on Friday to go to my Dad's surprise 60th birthday on the North Coast.

Ha! There's a visual for you - 6 week old Arabella in capsule, car sick dog on seat, medicated cat on lap, slightly tense man friend driving & contortionist lil old me squishied up in the Rio for 6 hours.

Erm... yeh... should be fun :-/

The cold & flu season is upon us (or nearly anyways)...

I dunno about you but whilst breastfeeding my little angel I can’t afford to be getting attacked by any rotten germies of the flu or cold bearing kind.

Aside from the fact I hate being sick (and I’ve already had a bad bout of mastitis) anything that is going on in my body will indeed be passed onto Arabella via the Mummy Milking Machines.

Yes, ok, I agree that breast is always best as the first option for your bubba.

Its the eco friendly, baby friendly, Mama Gaia friendly way to feed your bubba & give them the best start in life.

But... what if you can’t breast feed for whatever reason?
