The Eco Mum Background
My childhood was a good example of wholesome living. We were taught well in regards to looking after nature, eating good food (even when we were stone cold broke) and using common sense instead of pills and medications for most ailments. We hardly went to the Doctors and were very healthy, happy and lively.
My first introduction to home remedies came as a result of being overcome with croup during the middle of winter nights as a child.
My father's response was to "double or nothing" in terms of treatment. I was immediately treated with forced inhalations of copious amounts of chest rub in a saucepan of boiling water. I think I was about 7 years old at the time... I still remember them with a shudder because the recipe called for 1 TEASPOON of chest rub... I got 1 TABLESPOON "just for good measure" he would say.
When I became a teenager, sadly I was diagnosed with chronic depression and was put on ever increasing doses of anti-depressant medication for over 7 years. At one stage I was taking 6 anti-depressants everyday! This same class of anti-depressant has now been labelled dangerous for teenagers and adolescants due to increased suicidal tendencies whilst on the drug. I literally woke up one day and thought "I can't just stay medicated for my life - there has to be a better way to live than this!"
This thought kicked started my curiousity into the wide & wonderful worlds of organics, herbs and homeopathics, alternative lifestyle choices, energy and clean & green living.
I was once again diagnosed with a bad case of exhaustion, which manifested as severe adrenal fatigue in my mid 20's. It wasn't until I literally collapsed from sheer overwork & exhaustion that all of these principles I had learnt started to take affect.
Its been a long, painful & sometimes seemingly impossible journey however I have learnt so much & am so grateful for having had the motivation to study such amazing things. I am now a self diagnosed Obsessive Compulsive for researching for this life and I crave learning new things, finding out more and putting everything into practice.
I have now studied in Reiki and psychic development and became an intuitive psychic reader. I was also a Life & Business Coach and motivational speaker. I have also commenced my studies into Naturopathy by embarking on an Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy with a view to obtaining my doctorate in the field.
The Eco Mum is a culmination of my many years and many more lessons in all areas of life - it is the legacy I want to pass onto my family.
I hope you find this useful, insightful, helpful and valuable.
Thank you for visiting & enjoy poking around!
Love and green hugs,
