I don't know about you, but personally I found 2014 more than a little challenging. I will go into why in a later post...
I guess in the end, you start thinking about the beginning. Whenever Christmas starts to loom and the New Year hurtles toward us, I try to think of really GOOD resolutions - you know, ones that make you go "Oooh and ahhh" and ones that I can at least stick to!
This year I have changed tactics slightly.
As Doreen Virtue (Angel Card healer and reader) has said that 2015 is all about action and abundance, let's rip into making it a spectacular year for us all shall we?
New Year is a time to take a step back and really take stock of things - especially yourself.
Do you have some bad habits you need to kick?
Do you need to set some goals and REALLY stick to them this time?
Could you change your image, your countenance, your carriage, how you hold yourself?
What are some areas about you that are just awesome?
Make a list of 20 great things about yourself and 20 areas you would like to improve on.
For me, its things like I have great hair and eyes but all the sitting down these past few years means I have a droopy butt and pot belly. These areas need work and I have set a goal to have them sort by June 2015.
Also, I swear to much - that has to stop. Now. Bugger it ;)
What goals could you set for yourself?
Take a look around your room, your house, your car, your wardrobe. Are there things there that really do not need to be there anymore? Can you give some things away? Is the trash piling up in corners, under beds, behind cabinets? Roll up your sleeves and get into a de-cluttering and cleaning mood because you want to sweep the energetic cobwebs out and welcome in this new energy of abundance and action.
So no excuses! Hop to it and start pulling out EVERYTHING and asking yourself "Do I really need / use / want this?" If no, GET RID OF IT and open your home and life up to even more things to come your way.
2. Start a Journal
One of the best ways to ensure a wonderful year is to keep a journal. I am not talking about a book where you whinge and moan about everything each day. I mean somewhere where you can focus your thoughts and work out where you want to improve each day. Questions to ask yourself in each daily entry are:
1. What went WELL today?
2. What did NOT go so well today?
3. What would I do differently?
4. What am I grateful for?
If you start out the year like this and keep the habit, you will slowly improve in areas you have been meaning to work on and you will come closer and closer to your goals each day.
1% per day of improvement or forward movement towards a goals = 365% by the end of the year.
Not much each day but a HUGE amount by December!
If you are anything like me, you probably spent WAY too much time inside the house, at the desk or staring at some form of screen (computer, phone, tablet, TV etc).
Making time to get outside for a walk, a play with the kids or even just to sit under a tree will help to give you a healthy dose of fresh air AND perspective on life.
Whenever I am feeling super stressed now, I think to myself "I need sun, I need air and I need to remember how small I am and how small this is". I promptly go and plonk myself under a tree somewhere with my (now) 5 week old son and just sit for a while. It helps if you take a cuppa too.
Make it a goal to at least once per day get yourself OUT OF THE HOUSE and into the fresh air, sunshine, wind and even the rain. It will dust off the energetic cobwebs, open your heart and mind and amazingly - you will often find the most inspirational ideas or solutions come when you are out and about and moving.
Don't sit and stress.
Breathe and achieve!
Ok, that was lame - but you get my point.
Get out of the house. Go sit under a tree or watch a waterfall or chase butterflies - or your kids - and feel your energy shift and move.
Stagnation of the body creates stagnation of energy (chi). Stagnated energy does not create anything.
If you want this year to be all about ACTION and ABUNDANCE for you and your family, get out, get about and move that body!
So there you go! My top 5 tips to make this year an absolute CRACKER for you and yours!
Try them and tell me how it goes! 2015 is going to be awesome for us all - wait and see and in the meantime pour a cuppa, sit under a tree and breathe deeply.
Happy New Year!
We live in a super-charged, super fast paced society and it need not be that way. Yes, things need doing, the washing is piling up and your threenager is throwing yet another tantrum... but just take a step back and unwind yourself a bit.
How are your eating habits? Are you eating good food or are you eating on the run?
Having lived both sides of the equation - terrible diet, too much caffeine, smoking and drinking vs herbal supplements, real food and very nutritious meals - I know just how much a difference eating well can make. Start small - switch out that sandwich or burger for a big salad. Swap those chips for an apple. Don't go at it like a bull at a gate and change up your whole lifestyle at once or you'll never stick to it. Take it one small step at a time.
Remember - 1% improvement per day = 365% a year!
You will sleep better if you eat better. You will also feel more rested.
Feeling more rested = feeling less frazzled or stressed.
Feeling less frazzled = nicer, happier, calmer Mumma and nicer happier, calmer home.
Oh - and drink HEAPS more water! Go for 6 - 8 glasses everyday. Put a jug on the bench or work desk or wherever and keep it full. When you pause to think, drink. When you pick up the phone to call someone, drink. When you get up to do something, drink.
Add a glass of water to daily tasks and you will soon see a huge improvement in your moods, your energy - hell! Even skin tone and hair look great with more water on board!
