Enter the Reusable Children's Food Pouches!
Here is my homemade toothpaste recipe that tastes good, is great for your teeth and gums and that you can simply spoon (or melt and pour) into a squeezy food pouch so your children can still have the fun of squeezing it out when they brush their teeth!
One of the most important aspects to dental health is the minerals that makes up the tooth enamel. If your body is depleted of minerals (or is to acidic) then your teeth will suffer.
In this recipe I wanted to find a way to introduce a source of minerals to help 'remineralise' the tooth enamel.
So without further ado, here is my homemade remineralising toothpaste recipe!
Eco Mum's Healthy Gums
1/4 cup coconut oil (whipped is easier to use)
1/4 cup bicarbonate soda (or baking soda as its also called)
2 teaspoons of Stevia (liquid I find best)
2 teaspoons of very finely ground Celtic Sea Salt (or Himalayan Rock Salt)
2 teaspoons of Calcium Magnesium powder or Magnesium Salts (ground)
20 drops of Peppermint essence
Now if you have a Thermomix, just quickly whip the coconut oil using the butterfly attachment then add all the other ingredients through the lid whilst its still whipping away. You may like to grind the salt and Magnesium Salt together before hand, then empty it out and whip the coconut oil.
If you do not have a Thermomix, you can use a blender or stick mixer.
Using either a blender or spice grinder, grind the salts as finely as possible to a powder like consistency (not granulated).
Add the coconut oil and allow to solidify if not solid. Whip the coconut oil mixture until fluffy and creamy. Add remaining ingredients and continue whipping for one minute until thoroughly combined.
Spoon into a squeezy pouch (or use a pot or wide necked jar), add a pretty label and you're all done!
We love this toothpaste because it helps to remineralise the tooth enamel, is soothing and calming for the gums and tastes great.
P.S. The best part? My 4 year old daughter is quite happy with it.
Lots of love,
