Herbal Infusions are just the extra lift I need to go from feeling OKAY to feeling GREAT!
I don't know about you but every single New Year I give myself a good kick in the pants around my health (or usually lack thereof come December) and promise to get back on the wagon.

This year was no different...

So in the spirit of New Beginnings and Fresh Starts that each New Year brings with it, I am getting back on the wagon in a big way in 2016.

It is my gut-feeling that this year is going to be intense and challenging for me, personally and professionally and I need to take extra special care of me if I am going to be at my best.

My current health regime is a simplified version of times gone by however the emphasis is on optimal nutrition [from real food sources only] and facilitating calm.

Whilst my typical day consists of a super food smoothie, my real food based nutritional supplements and some calming minerals like magnesium, I found with the beginning of the New Year I needed some extra oomph.

Please Welcome Back...

The Herbal Infusion!

Some of you may remember me writing about herbal infusions here, as a source of mega dose multi vitamins and minerals. You may also have read up on them by the wildcrafting Goddess herself, Susun Weed.

I have raved about them - and the benefits of certain herbs - until I am blue [or green!] in the face!

Whenever I add these liquid vitamin drinks to my overall regime, my energy goes through the roof, my nerves calm down and my stamina increases dramatically.

I literally bounce out of bed 2 hours earlier feeling refreshed and ready to go.

Even with everything else I can, these infusions are just the icing on the cake and make all the difference to my energy and outlook.
If they are so good then why did you stop having them?
Ha!

Great question, that one!

The answer?
Laziness.
Sometimes life gets in the way...

... and whenever I let it get in the way, my health and energy are the first things to suffer.

So I commit to having at least ONE LITRE a day of Nettle Infusion throughout 2016!

Who's with me?

How to Make a
Herbal Infusion

Its super simple - nothing could be easier! Or more healthful for your body!

You will need:

A plunger, jug or canister that holds a litre or more
Boiling water
Herbs
My Herbs of Choice for ENERGY and CALM [stress management] are:

  1. Stinging Nettle
  2. Holy Basil / Tulsi
  3. Oat Straw
  4. Passionflower

You can research these herbs to decide what suits you best. I find Nettle is a great all rounder for energy, detoxing, revitalising and calming the body.

You will need about 30g of dried herb (one ounce) to every litre (or quart) of boiling water.

Personally, I work on about a cup of herb.

My favourite concoction is

1/3 C Holy Basil / Tulsi
2/3 C Stinging Nettle

Place the herbs into your jug / plunger / canister and pour over one litre of boiling water. Use a metal knife or spoon in the jug to avoid the glass cracking from the heat.

Cover and allow to sit for 4 or more hours. I rest mine overnight.

Strain and drink!

You can have Infusions hot or cold. I have mine with a splash of dark coloured juice to help make it more palatable.

So there you have it!

An easy and very cheap way to get more vitamins and minerals into your body and optimise your nutrition levels for soaring energy, better sleep, a calmer more alert and focused mind and better moods!

Try it - you won't be sorry you did!

Here's to your continued health and wellbeing, throughout 2016!

Thanks for this.
I really need to get back into the infusions.

And the tip about the knife in the glass jar - so much better than cringing while pouring waiting for a crack.
Never knew that trick!

Very welcome :)

I am so glad I am back on the Wagon. I always feel so much better.

Yes - the knife trick has saved me many jars and jugs are a few too many breakages.

A happy and healthy 2016 to you! :)
