So during cough and cold season, I found that this elixir was SUPER helpful AND healthful.
I popped into our local health food store and was given a sample of their product. When I look up the ingredients on the bottle I thought “I could do that standing on my head!”
You will need:
1 organic lemon, quartered, peel on
1 organic lime, quartered, peel on
100g organic ginger, chopped
1 star anise
1 cinnamon stick
2 cups pure water (or boiled water, left to stand for 24 hours to eliminate chlorine)
1½ cups of organic or raw or manuka honey
Strain out and compost the solids.
Stir in the honey until it’s a nice syrupy consistency. Store in a glass jar in the fridge. Keeps for up to a month.
I used to take 2 tablespoons every hour when I was unwell. I also gave it to Missy when she had gastro recently and she was over it after the first little vomit.
It’s a wonderful mixture – can’t recommend it enough!
