Write your OWN complaint to Food Standards Australia!
I have written out a complaint that you can simply copy & paste in to the box below which sends an email directly to Lorraine Belanger, Communications Manager of Food Standards Australia in Canberra. Alternatively, write your own complaint expressing your disgust at FSANZ stance on the continued use of BPA in Australian baby products!
To Whom It May Concern;
Ref: The CONTINUED Use of BPA in Australian baby products
I recently viewed the expose` by 60 Minutes regarding the use of bisephynol-A in Australian plastics manufacture, namely baby products including bottles.
There have been many INDEPENDENT studies conducted showing the BPA leaches from plastics into foodstuffs, causing contamination and subsequent harm to humans. BPA is clearly a chemical not designed for human consumption yet FSANZ has enabled manufacturers to continue using this chemical in plastics sold throughout Australia.
Other countries around the world including Canada and a number of European countries have banned the use of BPA in plastics, especially baby products.
Why is FSANZ allowing the use of BPA to continue in Australian manufacturing practices?
I am disgusted that an institution charged with responsibility to safeguard Australian health has not taken more appropriate positive measures to restrict the use of BPA in Australia.
As one of many concerned parents, I ask FSANZ to immediately revisit and revise their stance on this issue and immediately BAN the use of BPA in all plastics in Australia for the protection of our children.
Yours sincerely,
